BRICS partner countries bring significant economic benefits to Malaysia, with investments from BRICS nations reaching 8.54 billion ringgit in the first quarter
Data from the Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry revealed that in the first quarter of this year, Malaysia attracted investments worth 8.54 billion ringgit (approximately 0.24 USD per ringgit) from BRICS countries.
The Ministry stated that this figure demonstrates the significant economic benefits Malaysia has gained from becoming a BRICS partner country.
According to Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), these statistics were part of a written response by the Ministry to parliamentary inquiries. The response, published on the official Malaysian parliamentary website on the 27th, highlighted Malaysia's investment achievements since officially becoming a BRICS partner on January 1 this year.
In the response, the Ministry noted that BRICS investments primarily came from China, India, South Africa, and the UAE, with over 96% directed towards the manufacturing sector, expected to create over 40,000 jobs in Malaysia. The Ministry described this outcome as a 'positive signal.'
The Ministry also emphasized that becoming a BRICS partner has opened new markets for Malaysia, strengthened its engagement with major economies of the Global South, and showcased its advocacy for a fairer and more balanced global financial and trade system.
